Maggiore is Italy’s international lake – its northernmost point protrudes sinuously into Switzerland, while its Italian shores are shared by Piedmont (west) and Lombardy (east). Free of Como’s overt glamour or Garda’s Disney-esque theme parks, it is often considered the most peaceful of northern Italy’s great bodies of water, its shores a little less crowded and its hinterland intriguingly wilder. The star attractions are the Borromean Islands, which, like a fleet of fine vessels, lie at anchor at the Borromean Gulf’s (Golfo Borromeo) entrance, an incursion of water between the lake’s two main towns, Stresa and Verbania.
More than its siblings to the east, Lake Maggiore harbours a distinct belle-époque air. The lake became a popular tourist destination in the late 19th century with the opening of the Simplon Pass and it is this era, with its stately hotels and regal promenades, that still defines its essence.

Hotel Rosa is a hotel situated in Baveno. The property features a terrace, as well as a shared lounge. Each room has a balcony with mountain views.

Lake Maggiore boat cruise

The cruise begins with the panorama of the Isola Madre with its 20 acre park, then we move on to the simplicity of Fisherman´s Island where you´ll be free to explore, eye the shops or eat something. Next there´s Isola Bella where you can visit and see the beautifully set-out gardens of the Borromean Palace surrounded by chic boutiques and cozy cafes.

The trip ends with a final view of the Alps and Lake as the boat returns to the port. A perfect way to get away from it all.

Cancellations received within 30 days of departure date are subject to the following penalties on the land portion:

    Up to 4 weeks prior to departure, any deposit will be forfeited.
    29-15 days - 25% of the cost of the holiday per person is forfeited;
    14-5 days - 50% of the cost of the holiday per person is forfeited;
    4-0 days - 100% of the cost of the holiday per person is forfeited.

The above mentioned conditions may vary in high season months according to the accommodation properties’ cancellation policies. All cancellation charges apply to each person covered by a booking.
