It is difficult to escape the constant media coverage of the emerging virus situation at present and people are rightly starting to question their travel plans for the year ahead. But what does it mean for you?

Best Holidays in Italy is a tour organiser. We create the holidays we sell and have significant expertise available to us, both in our office and ‘on the ground’ in every destination we visit. We stay informed of all events and can follow situations in close to real time, ready to update our guests of anything they should know.

I have already booked a holiday and would like to know how it will be impacted

If you have a holiday booked already, thank you for joining us. You’ll receive your final pre-holiday information approximately two-three weeks prior to departure. If there are any small changes to the itinerary or travel plans, this is the time we’ll let you know.

If a more significant change is required, such as a change to accommodation, or a major part of the itinerary, we will inform you of this as soon as possible and provide more specific steps as to what would happen next and what it means for your holiday.

The situation is very fluid and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advice is changing very rapidly. The important message here is that we will notify you of any changes or updates to your holiday, as we always would.

We take our advice directly from the Department of Foreign Affairs. You may find this link to their website useful: https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/ .

Other advice on how to minimise the risk of contracting Coronavirus can be found here: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019.

I’m worried. Can I cancel my holiday?

Best Holidays in Italy is a responsible holiday company and we will always follow the advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs. Should the DFA advice change for a country, or a region of that country and it warns against travel (or non-essential travel), we would of course not put our customers in harm’s way. At this stage, we would cancel the holiday and we will contact customers to provide options.

Currently we are reviewing all our tours in April and May. If you choose to cancel or change a holiday departing later in the year, our standard booking Terms and Conditions currently apply.

If government advice has not changed, and there are no travel restrictions in place for a given area, you could still choose to cancel your holiday. In this event, you would be subject to our regular holiday cancellation conditions (found here). Please note that you may incur a loss of some, or all of your money paid so far in this event.

I’m still thinking about where to go on my holiday this year. Is it safe to book, and are there places I should avoid?

Thank you for your interest in our holidays and would be happy to discuss your plans. All of our advertised holidays and itineraries are still available to book. We are aware that the situation is an evolving one and we would not accept bookings for a holiday to a place that we were being advised not to travel to.

We hope this information is helpful and that it acts as a reminder that when you book with Best Holidays in Italy, we will look after you every step of the way as your safety is paramount.
