Masseria Cervarolo is a large white farmhouse dating back to the 16th century; it includes the main building, some trulli and a small church built in 1798 and dedicated to Our Lady of Dolours with a baroque altar and various frescoes.

The farmhouse is located on a hill 250m above sea level and 6 km from Ostuni, so that you can enjoy magnificent views over the Itria Valley. The name Cervarolo comes from the Italian "cervo" (deer), as the area was once covered by forests and inhabited by deers.

The restoration has carefully preserved the original architectural features and materials of the property, which now combines past and present through the use of modern techniques for energy saving and environmental protection: photovoltaic system, recycling, reduction of air, water and soil pollution, protection of biodiversity in the property areas, local and healthy food.

With this food, the restaurant, exclusively for hotel guests, serves delicious Puglia recipes.

Masseria Cervarolo guests can relax in the swimming pool (a natural karst sinkhole) which is surrounded by rocks and terraces. In summertime you can enjoy a drink at the the pool bar, while in winter you can stop at the indoor bar in front of the fireplace.

Finally, guests can rent mountain bikes to explore the stunning Itria Valley.

This reviewer told us :

My friend and I had an excellent time in puglia. Teo, his family and staff were so helpful. It's a beautiful masseria well designed and thought out. As we got an early flight we were by the pool by 1.30pm on our first day and what a great way to start our break. The cookery lesson was so much fun. Then our meal that evening we ate the fruits of our labour. But more importantly the fruits of the chef's labour. I lost count if the different courses after 6! Teo gave us so many tips about the local area that it made our trip go so smoothly. Although teo and staff were busy I felt I was given a personal touch. My few days there felt as if I'd been there a week. The only down side was I couldn't stay for a week! I hope to return to puglia again. For now I have some excellent memories.

Pros:

personal touch, rural peace, pool, cookery lesson

Cons:

none
