Detailed Itinerary

DAY-1

Your holiday starts in Naples with a tasty pizza, neapolitan style, baked  in a traditional  woodfire oven.

Then you will be transferred to Irpinia, a countryside area located less than one hour from Naples and forty minutes from the Amalfi Coast.

Irpinia is very well known as important wine area and a perfect destination for foodies.

For dinner, you will meet our nutritionist that will introduce you to the benefits of the mediterrean diet and life-style.

 

DAY-2

Your second day in Italy will take you to visit local producers of some of the best known Italian products such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Prosciutto (cold meat).

The first stop will be to an awarded winning producer of EVO Oil. You will visit the olive orchard where they cultivate over 60 local varieties of olive trees, followed by a visit of the production area and an EVO Oil tasting at the end of our visit.

Nearby we will visit a local producer of italian prosciutto. During the visit you will see how they transform in 24 months or more, pork legs and shoulders in tasty prosciutto.

A glass of wine matched with prosciutto and other local cured meats will be your aperitif before we seat in a traditional Agriturismo restaurant for a 3 courses lunch.

In the afternoon, visit of  the old town of Taurasi and of a small winery awarded with the Oscar of Wine for the best Italian red wine. Our visit to the cellar will be completed with a tasting of their best wines.

Dinner, based on the product of the mediterrean diet, will be in a local restaurant.

 

DAY-3 – Optional

Free day to explore the city of Avellino

For those that will join us on this day excursion, we offer a visit of Calitri, a small beautiful town of Irpinia that is often compared to Positano for the colour of its houses. Recently, an important community of people from different English speaking countries has settled here, thanks to some episodes of the lucky American TV show “House Hunters International”.

After a visit of the old town and lunch in a local restaurant, we will visit the local producer of caciocavallo cheese that is typically aged in public grottoes.

In the evening, cooking class with a professional chef that will show you how to use the ingredients of the mediterranean diet.

 

DAY-4

After check-out we will move to Pompeii for a guided tour of the archaeological site. Lunch will be in a local agriturismo restaurant located in a farm producing the well known Italian tomatoes. In the afternoon, transfer to Salerno and check-in.

Dinner in a local restaurant with our team to better understand the healthy benefits of the mediterranean diet.

 

DAY-5 – Optional

Free day to explore the city of Salerno.

For those that have never been to the Amalfi Coast and for those that would like to return, we have planned an optional tour of the breathtaking costal line of the Amalfi Coast.

After a stop in Cetara, a small fisherman town, know for the transformation of anchovies, tuna and the “Colatura di Alici”, a rare anchovies sauce already known by the Romans with the name of Gorum.

Lunch in Amalfi, overlooking the sea and in the afternoon guided tour of the town with its Arab-Norman Romanesque Cathedral and the picturesque town of Ravello, popular among artists such as Wagner, Greg, Virginia Wolf, Truman Capote, Jacqueline Kennedy and many others.

Return to Salerno and Pizza Night in a local pizzeria.

 

DAY-6

This is the day when you have the opportunity to learn how the Buffalo Mozzarella, maybe the queen of the Italian products, is made.

We will visit one of the most important Italian producers followed by a tasting on the spot.

After lunch, visit of the 2500 years old Greek Temples of Paestum.

The afternoon will ease-down with a cold glass of wine by the sandy beaches of Paestum with the opportunity for a swim.

Free time for dinner in Salerno.

 

DAY-7 – Optional

Free day to relax and shop in Salerno.

Your last day in Italy will be all for you, to relax and do some shopping.

If you prefer, we have also organised for those that would like to join us, an excursion to Sorrento to conclude your holiday with one of the most classic destination of this region.

We will take you to Sorrento for a guided gastronomic tour of the city.

From Sorrento you can also join one of our escorted excursions to the Gulf of Naples and to Capri Island.

Day-8

Check-out and transfer to the Airport for departure and return to Ireland.
